About

Mark Nohra is an experienced trial lawyer that revels in the opportunity to stand up for his clients and fight for a just outcome. In doing so, it is important to Mark to provide his clients with a sense of ease in often trying times. Mark prides himself in developing real connections with clients putting complex legal issues into language that you can easily understand.

Mark thrives in the courtroom. He has dedicated his legal career to protecting the rights of his clients and has significant courtroom experience doing just that. Mark practiced at one of the top criminal law firms in the country acting as lead counsel in high profile cases.

Mark was lead counsel in R. v Christhurajah et al., a lengthy precedent-setting complex jury trial involving an alleged international person smuggling operation on a ship called the MV Sun Sea. Mark was successful in securing an acquittal for his client before a jury despite tremendous amount of government resources dedicated to fighting the case.

Mark acts for clients in a variety of complex matters including issues related to diplomatic immunity, extradition, regulatory matters and disciplinary hearings. Mark also has extensive experience in defending against sexual assault allegations which is an area of law that has become exceedingly nuanced and multifaceted.

Mark has appeared on behalf of clients at British Columbia Provincial Court, British Columbia Supreme Court, and Court of Appeal. Mark graduated from the University of British Columbia Faculty Of Law in 2008, and completed his articles at a top Vancouver civil litigation defense firm.

The goal orientated methodology embodied in athletics has shaped Mark's approach to his legal career. Meeting the challenge requires a commitment to the process and attention to detail, something instilled in Mark as a former professional football player who retired after winning the Grey Cup with the British Columbia Lions in 2006. He was also a member of the 1997 National Championship University of British Columbia Football team where he won the Hec Creighton award as the nation's top footballer.
